i have family that lives in the uk and they told me that adverts are already running for sunday's installment dealing with the jw coverup.
unfortunately, because i have been labeled an apostate by everyone, they quick stopped themselves before telling me about the content, stating that i really didn't need to hear it.. has anyone seen these ads?
what do they say about the content of the show?

The one I saw has a man in a suit with a briefcase walking down the street holding a little girl by the hand while the announcer says: "Next week Panorama investigates how the Jehovah's Witnesses protect paedophiles and put children at risk"
ballistic is right - BBC1 is the most watched channel in the UK - no JW over here is going to be able to avoid this.

I watched the end of Panorama on Sunday evening because they usually advertise the following week's programme.
Even though I was expecting this it was still a powerful image. I can't imagine the reaction of the average UK Witness who say this at the end of the programme.

my sister just called me at work to let me know that her husband (until recently, unsympathetic to her doubts) is thoroughly confused and pissed off by the new 'worship' book!.
he has been comparing it with the 'united' book, has noted the obvious differences (3 missing chapters), and has begun examining it word for word...now he is raving looney about it.. to top it off, they were at bethel within the last few days, somehow ended up in brother larson's personal office, and were astonished to find a model spanish galleon replete with huge crosses, and a huge portrait of good ol' max towering over the watchtower itself.
she said her husband thought it looked like a propaganda poster for 'big brother'..... finally!
My mother usually gives me new publications to read. She's had several opportunities to give me this new book but so far hasn't.
I'll be ready with some 'missing blood chapter' questions if she does though. I think I might ask her which 'New Light' does SHE think will be next!

The point I was trying to make is that the Lord's Prayer was shorter but contained far more in it's few sentences than the typical District Convention closing prayer. I'm certainly not saying use a timer when praying that goes off after 30 seconds.
We've all heard these same closing prayers at DC's that go on and on forever. Half way through most people will have completely switched off.
What I'm trying to say is that far more can be said without waffling on for 15 mins. The trouble is that these closing prayers try to cover every JW subject all at once.
You're right - far better to pick a theme or maybe one or two subjects to pray about. I'm sure it would be easier to concentrate on a prayer like this.

The organisation is preparing itself for many lawsuits. The Org is trying to deflect the blame for everything onto elders and the rank and file, and will not help in any way with 'future trials'

12 - 15 minutes for a prayer is ridiculous. It's enough to put anyone off going again.
And how long was the Lord's Prayer - about 30 seconds?

If a man gives a woman a diamond ring, she'll love it and thinks it's beautiful. But, if you look at the diamond closely (through a microscope), you will see that it's actually diamonique and cost $35 from QVC shopping channel. Will the woman then want to throw away the diamond? Of course she will! She'll say "Get out and take that shitty fake diamond with you". "God's Organization" is like that diamond ring.
just attended the sunday of the zealous kingdom proclaimers district convention in manchester, england and during the final talk we had an update on the world situation as it relates to jehovah's witnesses.
the speaker was peter ellis, a member of the london bethel branch committee.. he stated that many had been waiting for armageddon for some years and some have become disappointed that it hasn't yet arrived, and that newer jw's did not seem to have the same degree of faith as some of the old-timers in the faith, hence this was of serious concern.
then he said something along the lines of 1914 being set in stone and that the organization was not going to get any new light on this key doctrine, hence we can be sure that armageddon is very near.. interesting don't you think?
I can remember Peter Ellis giving the closing prayer at one Manchester District Assembly. It lasted almost as long as the assembly itself.

I saw Panorama last night, a great programme about finding Bin Laden. At the end when the credits were rolling they advertised next weeks programme. It showed a man in a suit with a briefcase walking down the street holding a little girls hand. The announcer said "next week Panorama investigates the Jehovah's Witnesses and their shielding of Paedophiles".
I can imagine the average JW in Britain watching this after their weekend District Assembly and jumping out of their chair at this sentence.
